Parameter Description Example
Path Native path to the file to check. "C:\test\me.jpg"


Queries the display name of the file or folder.
This name may be localized and may not include file extension. Only for displaying.

This function requires a native path. Use Path.FileMakerPathToNativePath to convert a FileMaker path to a native path if required. If you like to have the user choose the path, you can use FileDialog functions.
For Server be aware that server has limited permissions and may not be able to access all files on a computer.


Queries display name of a file

MBS( "Files.FileDisplayName"; "C:\test.txt" )

Query localized name for desktop folder:

MBS ("Files.FileDisplayName" ; "/Users/cs/Desktop" )

Example result: "Schreibtisch"
